White River State Park Ushers in Summer with New & Old Favorites

Friday Flow, Earth Day Indiana Festival, and Yappy Hour Begin in July; Updates on IMAX®Reopening

INDIANAPOLIS – White River State Park (WRSP) announces the return of park favorites, Yappy Hour and the Earth Day Indiana Festival, along with its newest Park experience, Friday Flow in July.

As Indiana enters Phase 5 of Governor Eric Holcomb’s COVID-19 reopening plan, WRSP is happy to invite visitors to take part in its newest Park experience, Friday Flow, a series of free yoga sessions in The Park. The sunrise yoga sessions will kick off on July 10 and occur every Friday during July and Aug. from 6:00 a.m. – 6:45 a.m. They will be held in beautiful Locust Grove, located directly across from the Frank Lloyd Visitor Center. All levels are welcomed.

The Earth Day Festival, which had to be postponed due to COVID-19, will return to the Historic Military Park at White River State Park on Sat. July 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to celebrate its 30th Anniversary. This free family-friendly event includes several exhibitors, live music, food trucks, a beer garden, a 5K run/walk and more. IndyGo and Pedal Park will offer free bike watching services for anyone who bikes or buses to the festival.

Park visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy the return of one of WRSP’s most popular events, Yappy Hour, a series of free family-friendly happy hour events that welcomes both people and pups alike. Attendees will enjoy music, food trucks, yard games, multiple local dog vendors and dog training demos. The series kicks off on July 23, followed by events on Aug. 13, Sept. 24, and Oct. 29. All events will take place in the Historic Military Park at White River State Park and run from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

“We are so excited to welcome back some of our signature programs and events while introducing a new one”, says Carolene Mays-Medley, Executive Director of the White River State Park Development Commission. Yappy Hour quickly became a Park favorite last year and we are thrilled for its return. We are equally excited to introduce Friday Flow and the return of the Earth Day Indiana Festival. We work diligently to ensure that WRSP is a park for the people and that our offerings are reflective of the diversity and interests of our visitors. We look forward to continuing to serve and bring these opportunities for fellowship and fun all summer long.”

WRSP has also announced that the IMAX® Theatre at White River State Park will reopen to the public on June 26. Opening Weekend titles include Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Blade Runner: The Final Cut, both enhanced IMAX® Experiences.
