Spring is here and the City of Whiting is ready for the warmer weather, flowers blooming and people visiting & enjoying the small town. Springtime is the beginning of fun for Whiting, with most of the events starting in May. You can stop by the Oil City Stadium and catch a ball game, every third Wednesday of the month they hold Cruise Nights along 119th St, on Saturdays you
can visit the Farmers Market in front of City Hall, and at the end of May they have the annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony. Starting in June you can head on down to the corner of Sheridan and 119th St and listen to live music on Friday nights but if you are more of a day person, you can hop on over to Whihala Beach and have some water fun on the WhoaZone floating waterpark. While you’re in town don’t FURget to make an appearance at the Mascot Hall of Fame and see all the fun they have to offer.
The Downtown Whiting Business District is also known for its many unique shops and restaurants. From pizza & ice cream joints with outside seating, to a beach themed restaurant serving delicious Caribbean food, to your favorite Mexican and American dishes being served up, to local pierogies and much more. Guests might also enjoy stopping and relaxing in one of the coffee shops or the local bars for a refreshing drink. If you’re out shopping you can find gifts and souvenirs, home décor, boutique style clothing, and local handmade treasures at one of the many shops up and down 119th St. Make sure you stop by the local game shop for a hands-on kind of fun and educational experience.
