42nd Annual Apple Popcorn Festival

This year will be the 42nd annual Brookston Apple Popcorn Festival. It will be on Saturday, September 18th, 7 am-6 pm. This is a free event.

This year’s festival will be brimming with activities, including: over 200 craft booths, contests, entertainment, music & a great variety of food booths. There are yard sales galore all through town. This is the time to celebrate the local harvest, rich with apples and popcorn. Come with your friends and family and enjoy the day.

There are many of activities for kids and adults all day long, including: pancake & sausage breakfast at the firehouse, family entertainment on the stage, 5K, 10K run, apple bobbing, prince and princess contest, hula hoop contest, jump rope contest, bubble gum blowing contest, water balloon toss, pizza eating contest, frisbee dogs, apple dessert contest, art show, men’s leg contest, book sale at the Brookston library.

Golf carts are allowed in Brookston without having to have a permit from the town the day of the event ONLY. No four-wheelers, Gators, Rangers or ATV’s are allowed. No golf carts are allowed in the festival area. Golf carts must have insurance.

Handicapped Parking is available close to the heart of the event, between Second and Third Streets. Enter from the north. All paved surface from parking area on in is easily negotiated with a wheelchair or rascal-type vehicle. Wheelchair-accessable washrooms are conveniently located near the center of the event and ample portable toilets are situated in convenient locations.

6:00-10:00 AM – Pancake and  Sausage Breakfast/ Fire Station- Sponsored by the Volunteer Firemen

6:00 a.m -11:30 a.m – Dash Plaques, People’s Choice Plaques. Special Trophies! Money goes to American Cancer Society. Door Prizes and Raffles.

9:00-10:00 AM – Brookston Jammers/ Stage- Don’t miss our local talent! Old-time country, bluegrass and folk tunes as played at the monthly Jam at the library.-Sponsored by Dave’s Computer World

9:00-3:00 PM – Book Sale/Library-Sponsored by Friends of the  Library

10:00-10:30 AM – B Boutique Fashion show

10:00-4:00 PM – Car Truck and Motorcycle Show– Hosted by Dennis Charleston – 205 S. South St – Registration $15.00

10:30-11:00 AM     Madison Mathias– Local Music Entertainment

11:45-12:00 PM – The Hanslow Girls– Local Music Entertainment

12:00-1:00 PM – Prince and Princess Contest/ Stage-Ages 4-7. Entry deadline 12th. No fee. Print entry form at applepopcornfestival.org. or forms can be picked up at Frontier Elementary, BASE, Town Hall and Fountain Trust Company. Meet the celebrity judges from the White County 4-H Queen Contest.

1:00-1:30 PM – Chris Hale/ Stage- One of our favorite local country singers is back this year! – Sponsored by Ivy and Violets

1:30-2:00 PM – Water Balloon Toss/ Stage- Must have a partner. Ages 5-10, 12-15, 16 & up- Sponsored by Christopher Landscaping

2:00-3:00 PM – Doc Brown and The Deloreans- Local Music Entertainment

3:30-4:30 PM – Big Swing Band/ Stage –  The joint will be jumping! Stop by an check out the sounds of this Lafayette Group- Sponsored by the Town of Brookston .

4:30 PM – Honorary Dottie Smith Men’s Leg Contest/ Stage- Hairiest, Most Crooked, Prettiest, Most Tans & Ugliest- Sponsored by The Other Place

4:00-7:00 PM – All You Can Eat Fish Fry and Bake Sale/ Frontier Elementary School – $8 in advance for adults. $10 at the door. Children (under 10) $5.00. Dessert with donation. – Sponsored by Frontier Junior Class. Proceeds benefit Frontier Prom. Advanced tickets purchased from Frontier Junior class student or parent.
