Staycation Itinerary
DAY 1
Start your day with a tour of America’s oldest art glass factory, Kokomo Opalescent Glass. Public factory tours are offered Monday-Friday at 10 a.m. Experience exquisite art glass that is handladled and rolled from a 2,500-degree furnace and watch artists make handblown glass creations.
Spend the afternoon in Downtown Kokomo with unique shops, restaurants, breweries, and walking/biking trails.
Art is at the heart of downtown Kokomo. Explore a variety of Art Experiences, including art alley transformations, colorful murals, sculpture walk, artist studios, galleries and more through self-guided tours. Many can be discovered along local trails.
Variety of lodging options are available from comfortable hotels to a unique farm stay experience at Heritage Farm.
DAY 2
See “Old Ben”—the world’s largest steer— in Highland Park. Learn about the inventor of the early automobile, stainless steel and the regulated thermostat at the Elwood Haynes Museum.
Bask in the beauty of the stunning Seiberling Mansion, built in 1891 with late-Victorian architecture, hand-carved woodwork, and local history exhibits. Visit Popcorn Café to choose from a selection of 50+ flavors of popcorn, retro candy, vintage sodas, and homemade fudge.
In the summer, cool off and have fun at Kokomo Beach Family Aquatic Center. End the day with an authentic Italian meal at PASTArrific or Martino’s Italian Villa, inducted into the Pizza Hall of Fame in 2017.
DAY 3
Explore Crown Haven Center with indoor archery tag, horseback riding,
and military transport vehicle rides. Discover more than 2,000 pieces of glass on display at Greentown Glass Museum and visit Indiana’s first Blue and Gold
Star Family Memorial at Howard County Veterans Park.
Next, get ready for takeoff at Grissom Air Museum’s 15-acre air park featuring two dozen military aircraft and indoor aviation exhibits. Indulge your sweet tooth with handmade chocolates and gourmet cakes at J. Edwards Gourmet.
Finish your day with handcrafted brews and BBQ at Half Moon Restaurant & Brewery.
