“A Christmas Story” Comes Home Exhibit

Released in 1983, the film, “A Christmas Story” began a new holiday tradition. Now families across America watch for hours the antics of a typical family in the Midwest on the days leading up to Christmas.

Visit the Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond to relive your own childhood memories of Santa and that long-sought-after Christmas present. Gaze at the elaborate window displays depicting scenes from the classic holiday movie. “Come home” to where the story began, in Hammond, and make new traditions with your family.

“A Christmas Story” Comes Home exhibit offers free admission. Enjoy photos with Santa atop Santa’s Mountain, decorate cookies and take part in a number of special events including A Major Event! and Holiday Market, and Oh Fuuudge! Tire Relay.

Members of the military and first-responders can enjoy a private evening with Santa during the exhibit during Holiday for Heroes on December 5. Visit during All is Calm, a sensory-friendly event on December 13. And don’t forget Fido during Wag Your Tail Wednesday November 20 & 27, December 11 &18.
