Whether you’re looking for something in good taste or something that tastes good, you’ll find it at the 11th annual Indiana Artisan Marketplace, April 1-2 in the Agriculture Horticulture Building at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, 1202 E. 38th Street.
Known as the state’s premier art and food experience, the Marketplace weekend will be filled with meeting artists, seeing their work, watching them create, tasting their foods, sampling their wines and buying the best in Hoosier craftsmanship. About 100 artisans from across Indiana are expected to showcase their original art and offer tastes of their small-batch food and wine.
“Our goal with the Marketplace is to connect the creator of the artwork and producer of the food with those who are eager to find high-quality, locally handcrafted work,” said Brian Blackford, Indiana Artisan Board chair.
Indiana Artisans include artists – painters, woodworkers, jewelry designers, weavers — and artisans – beekeepers, makers of specialty sauces, chocolatiers and more. “An Indiana Artisan is a Hoosier recognized for careful attention to detail, knowledge of their craft and an entrepreneurial spirit,” Blackford explained. “Their talent contributes to Indiana’s reputation for quality work.”
The Indiana Artisan organization was established in 2008 by a resolution of the Indiana Legislature to identify, recognize and promote the state’s highest-quality art, craft and foods. The work of more than 200 visual and food artists in 57 counties has earned the Indiana Artisan designation.
