The historic Buskirk-Chumley Theater is expanding wedding opportunities for couples looking for accessible, quick, and safe ceremonies in Bloomington and surrounding areas.
Couples can book one-hour, $200 ceremonies in the theater’s 1920s art deco lobby beginning Spring 2023. Since 2020, couples have had to be flexible in wedding plans – keeping parties small and safe, wanting something quick and easy, moving around wedding dates. This one-hour ceremony option gives couples the opportunity for a stress-free and affordable ceremony – think City Hall, but with a little more style. This program is the only of its kind in the region, making the BCT the go to place for couples to tie the knot quickly.
The ceremonies will take place one Sunday a month and couples will be able to invite eight guests and two vendors – an officiant and photographer. After the ceremony, couples will have access to the lobby, history exhibit, and marquee for photos. Live music, food, and beverages are not permitted. We encourage couples to visit one of the many restaurants downtown for a celebration afterwards.
Interested couples must register at buskirkchumley.org/rent/one-hour-weddings and availability is on a first- come, first-serve basis and will be booked within a 90-day booking window.
