Walking into Elkhart’s Midwest Museum of American Art is like experiencing something in a much larger city. The museum’s permanent collection is made up of quality, original works found in major museums.
According to Jane Burns, Director, the museum has dedicated itself to the acquisition, exhibition, and preservation of Nineteenth through Twenty-first century works of American Art. They offer opportunities to expand knowledge of the subject through gallery talks, films, bus trips and classes.
And if you’re a Norman Rockwell fan, you’ve hit the jackpot. The museum contains the largest public collection of signed, Rockwell color lithographs in the Midwest. Other major collections include pieces by Grandma Moses, Grant Wood, and the world’s largest Overbeck Art Pottery collection, with over 500 objects on display.
