For chocolate lovers, there’s no better way to see Richmond and Wayne County than through the tantalizing tastes and smells of locally- made chocolate delights.
The free Chocolate Trail is available year-round, and begins at the Old National Road Welcome Center, just off I-70, where you’ll pick up your official chocolate passport. With about a dozen stops, the self- guided trail leads you to an 1890s’ historic candy factory, an ice cream parlor, unique gift shops, bakeries, and an Amish market. Special “Chocolate Getaway” packages are also available. While you are enjoying this sweet adventure, you’ll want to include the Murals Trail with more than 80 towering illustrations to be found throughout the county.
Indiana’s Antique Alley is a hotbed of vintage finds with more than 11,000 antique dealers, and is one of the most diverse antique shopping destinations found in the Midwest. Historic Cambridge City brings on the charm and is deemed the “hub” of Antique Alley with a dozen antique shops and malls within a two-block area. People are encouraged to make Antique Alley an overnight destination because just one day isn’t enough time to traverse this vintage trail.
Wine and beer aficionados can select their preferred craft beverage, and their own path, while navigating the Heartland Wine & Ale Trail. With nine stops, the trail is a flavorful experience with many of the wineries and breweries using local ingredients to craft their beverage. Cheers!
