To put simply, planning a wedding can be stressful; especially if a bride is taking on the majority of the work on her own. From the location to the linens, each detail can make a difference in the overall feel of the event.
At The Red Barn at Sycamore Farm, co-owners Chef Kris Kraut and his wife, Gretchen, make it their goal to keep the process as easy, and enjoyable as possible for their guests. The team guides brides toward their dream weddings, and provides elegant, elaborate, even eccentric décor and dining.
At Sycamore Farm guests can choose to have the ceremony in the barn or gazebo. There is also a bridal suite upstairs in the farmhouse, and a second bedroom, with a connecting bathroom where guests can get ready right there on property. The parking lot also accommodates up to 130 vehicles.
Beginning in January, the small family business will offer a pop-up restaurant so their brides and grooms can enjoy a rehearsal dinner on property, rather than seeking out an additional location.
“The farmhouse is a perfect modern, rustic location for a rehearsal dinner,” commented Gretchen. “We can host roughly forty guests in the farmhouse. There are three different dining rooms on the main floor. This allows brides the chance to work with fewer vendors and have less stress for their big day.”
The house was built in 1860, and the couple has kept the original charm that makes it so cozy. It is both beautiful and intimate; but it isn’t without its updates.
“Everything is as original as it can be, just updated,” said Gretchen.
Similar to their reputable wedding offerings, the pop-up restaurant will allow guests the opportunity to relax during the planning process. Gretchen provides families with their choice of a wide variety of linens to suit the table and chairs in the house.
“Receptions in the Red Barn are beautiful, and can be unique, however for the couple that wants a different location than what they’ll experience on the wedding day, the farmhouse is a great option right across the lot,” said Gretchen.
And we can’t forget one of the most important aspects of this power couple’s offerings: the food! Chef Kris Kraut has the opportunity to tailor all meals to each guests’ needs, from red meats to sweets. All prices are tailored to each individual party. Chef Kraut’s kitchen is, after all, located in the same farm house as the restaurant, just across from the Red Barn.
Chef Kraut uses locally sourced ingredients, ensuring to maintain an incredible dedication to Hoosier-inspired, approachable cuisine. In the farmhouse, they will also offer regional craft beer, sake, and house-made wine cocktails, as well as seasonal coffee roasts from Rex Coffee for brunch.
The pop-up restaurant will open January 4th for the first dinner service from 5-9 pm. Guests must make reservations ahead of time by calling 812-567-6565. The pop-up will accommodate all groups up to 40 guests including business dinners, wedding parties, birthday parties, baby showers, and more.
