Fort Wayne Cherry Blossom Festival

May 20 2018

The Fort Wayne Cherry Blossom Festival has it all! For 11 years they have introduced Japanese culture in many forms to Northeast Indiana and the surrounding states.

This annual event features Japanese folk dancing, Taiko drums, traditional Japanese Koto music & contemporary Classical Japanese music, live performances from Doux Koto with Japanese dancer, Kazume Mitzuki, and performances by Daniel Quinn (classical guitar) and Elaina Robbins (vocal).

Also featured will be a Tea Ceremony, Kimono display, origami paper demonstrations, martial art demonstrations, bonsai tree display, Anime drawing contest, Haiku poem writing, and so much more!

This year Heartland Singers will share Japanese anime and video game music with an a cappella twist.

Vendors will be selling all things “Japanese”, from simple souvenirs to kimonos direct from Japan.

For 5 hours, Noon to 5 pm, the downtown Allen County Public Library will be alive with Japanese arts, crafts and culture, from popular Goldfish Catch and Chopstick Challenge games for kids to Karaoke for older folks. Activities will take place on the Plaza, in the Great Hall, in the downstairs auditorium, the Gallery, and in Children’s Services.
